“Education is by a kingdom and for citizenship in that kingdom” William Harry Jellema
At Echoes, we have a different paradigm for education. This starts with educational goals. Our educational goals are the following, in order of importance:
We are trying to build disciples of Jesus Christ. We regard higher education as an important goal of many but not all students. Parents should work with students to get a sense of God's call for the student and then help them get ready to respond.
The popular contemporary educational strategy is to get the best possible grades in high school in order to get into the best possible college in order to get the best possible job. We see things differently. We guide students to live their lives for Jesus Christ while they order and discipline their minds through study of Logic, Christian worldview, math, science, history, and great literary masterpieces. We want students to possess a well-rounded understanding of and commitment to the Christian life prior to making any decisions about vocation. Think first, then act. We desire to impart a chestful of tools so that students will be ready when God calls them to lead churches, start businesses, write books, and establish families.
